The ancient city of Prato was once the centre of the medieval Europen textile industry.
Today, it is a city of 180,000 people, almost 50,000 of whom are Chinese workers along with a further 2,000 entrepreneurs from their homeland.
The Chinese district is home to "Pronto Moda" - about 400 factories located in unadorned buildings in industrial zones of the city.
Here the off-the-rack fashions flood the eastern and western European markets only days after the fashion shows in nearby Milan and Paris.
People & Power asks how this part of China was able to establish itself in the heart of industrial Europe, how it sidesteps Italian and European regulations, and who are the winners and losers of thise new aspect of globalisation.
